About
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization governed by a Board of Trustees. As the research funding organization for APTA, the Foundation strengthens the critically needed evidence base for the physical therapy profession through the funding of academic doctoral scholarships, postdoctoral fellowships, and research grants.
The Foundation was initially established with seed money from APTA members, and since that critical investment, we have continued to grow thanks to the generosity of individual donors and APTA and its components who make our work possible. Their continued support helps develop academic doctoral students into successful researchers and further the evidence base in physical therapy, enabling the Foundation to award over $24.4 million in funding to date.
